You are so Mermazing - Pirates and Mermaids!

A few weeks ago now I hosted a small catch up day with some fellow crafters. We all brought a project for everyone else to make.

This was the project that Lorraine made for us - so adorable. It is a shaker card made using the diorama dies. We began by using the fish scale mask from the Plenty of Patterns mask set. We blended highland heather, mint macaron and balmy blue inks onto the white cardstock. Making the shaker card portion was so easy with the Layering Diorama dies, window sheet and the foam adhesive strips. I believe this card was inspired by Melissa Stout.

We added some retired sequins for the shaker element. The mermaid was coloured with blends then fussy cut to add to the front of the card with the fun pun sentiment.

I love shaker cards, I really should make them more often.

Bloom Where You are Planted - Love You

I have made a huge variety of cards with the Bloom Where You are Planted Suite, there are so many elements to this suite the sky is the limit! And not being the best of gardeners this paper plant version is right up my alley!

You can stamp and die cut pots and plants, you can die cut the DSP for pots and plants and adding the paper lattice creates some fab and fun backgrounds.

This is how I started, stamping and die cutting a whole range of images in the colours of the suite - cajun craze, cinnamon cider, just jade, garden green, evening evergreen and gray granite. I was then able to create a whole garden of cards by pulling all the pieces together.

Make sure you get your hands on this bundle, it is one of my all time favourites.  And stay tuned for a few more plant cards on my blog over the next few weeks.

Happy Birthday - Quiet Meadow

This card was the result of some playing with the Silhouette Dies and sponge daubers after scouring Pinterest for some different ideas. I was mainly inspired by Eva Hibbling (and a few other versions)

I used the in colour inks on our shimmer cardstock.  In hindsight I think I should have perhaps used soft succulent rather than evening evergreen as I feel the stems are a bit too dark so I will have to play with this idea a bit more! The dies are fabulous and I can see me getting heaps of use from them. There are so many ways to add colour and texture to the stems.

I am off to play some more!

Heartfelt love and caring thoughts - Quiet Meadow

Another of last week's cards was this one - this was my favourite of the 3 cards we made. Again I cased the card, this time from Creating with Allie. I wont go into too much detail as she has a how to video on her blog. I made a few changes to my card but generally kept with her design as I loved it so much.

I will add though that the larger white flower comes from a recently retired set called Forever and Always.

I love the black on the pool party, it's very striking don't you think?

Thinking of You - Quiet Meadow

Last week in class I showcased the Quiet Meadow bundle. I fell in love with the dies mainly and have been having fun creating with all the different flower/stems/leaves.

This one I cased from Michelle Mills - I loved her colour choices here, they are not colours I would normally gravitate to and I am always looking for new ideas so thanks Michelle!

The base is Misty Moonlight to which I added a layer with the stamped background and sponged the edges. I due cut the images from pale papaya and balmy blue. The sentiment panel is also from the same dies and fits the sentiment perfectly.

A few rhinestone completes the card.
