New Studio space, New classes and an Open Day!

As you might have seen on my facebook page, I have been busy creating a brand new studio space! I am so excited as this has been such a long time in the making - trying to source a space that was cost effective, close to home and had everything I wanted. And finally I found it!

Here is the before photo after the internal walls had come down.

And the after photos!

So much nicer!

I am co-renting a space in Willetton, walking distance from home. My business partner is a talented painter who teaches kids classes. Check out her facebook page Shannan Whitby Art https://www.facebook.com/ShannanWhitbyArt/

Upstairs from my studio is a super talented artist Jana Vodesil-Baruffi who teaches adult painting classes. https://www.facebook.com/janavodesil

So I am good company!

Now that I have a new space complete with less internal walls, new floors and new paint I can recommence card classes again. At this stage I am offering classes every second week on Tuesday mornings 10am-12pm (starting 3rd September) and Friday nights 7pm-9pm as well as a monthly Sunday class 1pm-4pm. RSVPs are essential as I need to prepare enough kits for everyone. I am happy to add more dates if the demand is there. My class dates are listed on my facebook page ttps://www.facebook.com/stampinupmelissagifford/

I am having an opening party to coincide with the new Holiday catalogue launch on September 8th.

RSVPs are essential so I can prepare enough kits for everyone.

I hope to see you there!

Stampers Anonymous Team Blog Hop 9

Hooray - it's time for another Stampers Anonymous team blog hop!

This month we were challenged to use at least 3 of the colours below.

I surprised myself and managed to use all 5!

This was the first card I made in my new studio space. I am still shifting bits and pieces in so this challenge was ideal for me to just use inks, stamps and card stock.

I find the best way to create with these challenges is to just sit down with whisper white cardstock, the 5 colours and then pick one stamp set and just play until I like the result!

I wanted to ink up a new stamp set - Beautiful Friendship. And here is the card I ended up with.

Make sure you click  though to see all the other amazing creation. Next up is Kristy

And here is the full list.

Mosaic Mood

This card was a sample I made for my catalogue kick off party a few weeks ago. I cut the hummingbird, flower and leaf from the Mosaic Mood designer series paper. This has a lovely glossy embossed feel to it on one side - just like real tiles. It's really lovely and one I can't stop patting!!

My big tip for 'fussy' cutting is to use good quality, sharp scissors like the Stampin' Up! paper snips - they really are that good and it makes a big difference.

Take Life by the Reins

This could be my new mantra! Take life by the reins. I love this horse - he looks so happy and free!

I saw the idea for this in Pinterest. I knew I wanted a crumb cake base to this card and with the addition of the corrugated soft suede it looks rustic which was the look I was aiming for!

The horse is coloured with crumb cake blends and a touch of old olive for the grass.

I tried tying a bow with the braided linen trim but then thought the knot looked more rustic so I went with that. It had nothing *cough, cough* to do with the fact I couldn't get the bow to sit straight at all! - #needbowtyinglessons
