Striking Magnolia in black and gold

I have been experimenting with different colours and techniques a but lately and I have rekindled my love of heat embossing again.

I was inspired by several cards on Pinterest and was instantly attracted to the striking gold and black combination.

I stamped with versamark ink then embossed the large magnolia with gold embossing powder. I then used the dies to cut out the shape and snipped off the stem. I gold embossed the sentiment too. Both are mounted with dimensionals.

The striped gold dsp was an off cut I had in my box of bits and pieces.

ESAD 2019 Holiday Catalogue sneak peek blog hop

Hello fellow crafty people! Today I am hopping with the ESAD group. A group of super talented Australian and New Zealand Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

And the theme is a super fun one - Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek!!

The hardest thing for me with this hop was choosing which new stamp set to use! You are going to love the new catalogue.

In the end I decided to go cute and used the Let It Snow suite. Such fun! I love that the colours in this suite don't have to be super traditional of red and green but also include night of navy and coastal cabana (a favourite of mine)

So using the Let It Snow DSP as my front panel, my base card is Coastal Cabana. I added touches of real red by using the decorative ribbon border punch and mounting it behind the whisper white base.

The snowman is from the new Snowman Season stamp set - full of super cute snowmen! I shaded the snowman using my smoky slate blends and added some pumpkin pie to his carrot nose. The small rocks are coloured with crumb cake.  The Frosted epoxy dots added some glittery fun to the card.

I then stamped the sentiment in craft white ink and punched it out. I realised too late that this is a retired punch (sorry!) but you can easily cut the sentiment to size.

This would be an easy card to mass produce too!

Happy Birthday Magnolia

Another Magnolia card that I made for my open day. Such a pretty and well used set! Again I CASEd this card but I cannot find the original creator so please let me know if it was you.

I stamped, coloured and die cut the magnolia then trimmed off the stem. The leaf was a piece of cardstock that I cut with the lace trim die then the leaf die - I love this effect. I do strongly recommend using the die brush for this die as there are lots of small pieces. But it is worth the little extra effort. I then lightly sponged it in green to get the desired result.

I gently crumpled both to give them an aged look.

An embossed background and a sentiment and my card was complete!

Give it a go, it is a lovely way to use this lace die.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart - Magnolia Lane

Here is another card I made a little while ago now. So long ago that I cannot remember who to give credit to as I know I cased it from someone!

Using the large magnolia stamp as a background makes it easy to create custom designs and colours. In this case I used basic grey and daffodil delight.

A little pop of yellow in the centre of the flowers and some die cut leaves softens the grey.  I think this would also look pretty in a soft pink too.

I love how you can choose any sentiment for this design - I used the thank you from Bloom and Grow - I just love this font.

Wildly Happy

I have been enjoying some quiet crafting time in my new studio. It's quite liberating being able to just craft without feeling the need to be doing things around the home.

I fell in love with the elephants in the Wildly Happy stamp set. Actually I love all the sweet animals in this set :)

I stamped the image onto whisper white then coloured with smoky slate blends and a touch of old olive for the grass.

I thought this piece of mosaic mood dsp contrasted well as it has the look and feel of scales! And I loved the softness of the mint macaron with the smoky slate.
